Counting Drill

The Counting Drill application is intended to improve the players ability and speed of counting cards - a critical skill for becoming a winning blackjack player. The counting drill counts down cards according to values assigned in the Counting Strategy Tab. A skilled player can count down a single deck of cards in under 45 seconds. To improve your skills, start with counting down a single deck by counting one-at-a-time. Once you have mastered this (e.g. complete accuracy under 60 seconds) then try the two-at-a-time drill. It is actually easier to count two-at-a-time, because you can "cancel" out pairs of cards. For example, if a the 2 card has a tag value of +1 and a king has a tag value of -1, then you can count in your head that this is zero, or better yet, just ignore the cards and keep the previous count in you head.
Mentally Recording the Count - One key to improving
the speed and accuracy of counting cards is to simplify the mental
exercise of recording the card count. A good way to do this is
as follows:
1. All plus counts should be counted
as the actual number (e.g. 2-3-4,etc).
2. Don't say in your head (+2,+3,+4).
The plus just adds mental complexity and reduces speed.
3. All minus counts should be prefixed
with the letter M (e.g. M2, M3, M4).
4. Don't say in your head (minus
2, minus 3, minus 4), use M instead.
